Report about the “Ecological and technological aspects of monitoring and reforestation of forests in the conditions of climate change” Conference

The International Scientific and Practical Conference <https://eng.volgatech.net/news/international/396167/>  “Ecological and technological aspects of monitoring and reforestation of forests in the conditions of climate change” took place at Volgatech. 

This year the conference was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Higher Forest School in the Volga Region of Russia. The conference was supported by the Federal Agency for Forestry, the European Union Erasmus + program, the European Forest Institute, and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at Volgatech.

The conference committee continues to receive materials from scholars, practitioners, and students for the 5-th  <https://forecos.volgatech.net/> International compendium of research articles “Forest ecosystems under climate change: biological productivity and remote monitoring”.

The SUFOGIS <https://sufogis.volgatech.net/>  project, implemented by the grant from the European Erasmus + program, brings together scientists from Europe, Russia and China to discuss and solve the current problems of climate change and forest protection.

From 5 to 14 July students and staff of Volgatech attended Summer school and retraining in the framework <https://www.efi.int/articles/sufogis-training-geo-information-technologies>  of the SUFOGIS project at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). The Summer school and internship program was developed by Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence SUFEX at Volga State University of Technology and the host Greek University, which is the coordinator of project.

Third group of students were admitted to the international master program ” <https://abiturient.volgatech.net/urovni_obrazovaniya/magistratura/institut_lesa_i_prirodopolzovaniya/monne/> International Cooperation in the Forestry Complex and Nature Management” at the Institute of “Forestry and Nature Management” of Volga Tech. The curriculum of the program is designed to train students for the international relations and companies. The program is based on teaching methods for a comprehensive analysis of the EU studies in the field of forestry and nature management. The master students will take summer internships in the countries of the European Union.

The monitoring visit within <https://eng.volgatech.net/news/international/395524/>  the framework of Erasmus+ programs conducted by Dr. Anna Muraveva – Deputy Director of National Erasmus+ Office in Russia took place on April 19, 2019 at Volga State University of Technology. This event is an important element in the program’s policy on the integrated assessment of the implementation of European Union projects in universities of the Russian Federation. 

The purpose of the visit was to assess the activities carried out and the results obtained, as well as to discuss issues related to the implementation of projects at Volgatech. In particular, Erasmus+ project “REady for BUSiness – Integrating and validating practical entrepreneurship skills in engineering and ICT studies <http://www.rebusproject.net/> ” (REBUS) and Credit Mobility Projects with University of Applied Sciences Mittweida and Danubius University were reviewed in detail. In general, Volgatech carries out five international Erasmus + projects.


The final coordination meeting and conference <https://eng.volgatech.net/news/international/395522/>  of ERASMUS+  REBUS project was held at the European University of Tirana, which was attended by the staff of Volgatech. Representatives of universities from Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, as well as the European project partners from Austria, Germany and Italy, gathered in Tirana. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the national office of ERASMUS + and the business firms of Albania.
